Cocktail Hour: Part 2

Jenny's top 3 gin cocktails to make with Aranami Strength Gin

Jenny Lane Hidden Curiosities Aranami Strength Gin Creator
Whilst I love a well-garnished G&T as much as the next person of taste, sometimes I crave the subtle and balanced hit of an expertly-made cocktail. The powerful, yet smooth taste of Aranami Strength gin works exceptionally well as the base of a classic, and the exotic botanicals within lend themselves to some delightful and unusual combinations. Below, are just some of my favourites, all of them delicious and sophisticated ways to unwind after a long day.

Aranami Dragon Smash
Aranami Gin Basil Smash AKA Dragon Smash
For those powerful enough to grant wishes and burn cities, the herbaceous basil rounds the power of the Aranami gin to create a beautifully refreshing drink.

• 50ml Aranami Navy Strength Gin (60ml if you want to breathe fire)
• 12 Fresh Basil Leaves (or Thai/Holy Basil for a more pronounced flavour)
• 22.5ml Fresh Lemon Juice
• 10ml Simple Syrup
• Fresh Basil Leaves to garnish

Gently muddle 12 of the basil leaves in the base of a shaker, add the Aranami gin and leave to steep for 10 minutes. Add the lemon juice and the sugar syrup, then shake with ice. Strain into an ice-filled glass, garnish with the basil leaves and enjoy.

Aranami White Lady
Aranami Strength Gin White Lady Cocktail
This fresh, fragrant elegant cocktail plays on the subtle citrus notes of the Aranami Gin, and the flavours of the bitter orange in the triple sec.

• 45ml Aranami Navy Strength Gin
• 20ml Triple Sec (Cointreau or similar)
• 20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
• 10ml Simple Syrup
• 1 Egg White (Optional)
• Lemon Zest

Put all your ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Follow this by a second shake, without ice, to combine well. Pour into a Coupe or a Nick & Nora glass, garnish with a twist of lemon and serve.

Salty Yuzu Negroni
Aranami Strength Gin Cocktail Salty Yuzu Negroni
East meets West in this exotic marriage of Italian and Japanese flavours. Classic bitters meet Japanese yuzu and botanicals to give a sophisticated adult drink you'll crave again and again.

• 25ml Aranami Strength Gin
• 25ml Campari
• 25ml Giulio Cocchi Americano Rosa
• 10ml Ume No Yado Yuzu Liqueur
• Pinch of Salt
• Pink Grapefruit Peel

Pour your ingredients together into a glass with plenty of ice, add the pinch of salt and stir together. Garnish with a piece of pink grapefruit.
